I have been a railroad live steamer for a number of years but would like to build a 1/4 scale case traction engine in the near future. My father entered this steam engine In to several Model engineering competitions And won a Gold and two Silver medals. There's no reason you can't practice on your own design of a crank, piston or cylinder even if there's no chance it would actually work, as in my case. The steam engine was constructed from scrap Brass and copper, virtually all the brass was Cut from a gear box cover and the girders Where made from a old antique brass Mail box lid. Would love to build my son a working engine some day. Some day I will get a kit and give it a try, but before I cut into the $100 casting I'll keep working on scrap till it's comfortable. STEAM TRACTOR PLANS TRIALFor me it's a lot of trial and error to get comfortable with turning something. STEAM TRACTOR PLANS HOW TOHardest thing was figuring out how to make it in a 3 jaw chuck, don't have a four, but thats half the fun. Didn't have any plans but researched the concept. Biggest Steam Tractor in the World John Deere rebuilt by Kory Anderson in Hindi. The smaller the better but I'll take what I can get. There are many other oscillating steam engine designs, and some are. Why am I here? I am looking for somebody who has engineering drawings, complete plans or even CAD files for a fully functional scale model Case. This engine was designed following a number of requests for a simple machining project. I do, however, have access to two different private machine shops where I can work on this project. I don't expect to be steaming up a scale model Case any time soon. I can get around a machine shop is all I am trying to relay and I can comprehend the massive undertaking that I am about to dive into. Now, that doesn't make me an exceptional machinist, however, it does offer some insight into life. As you can imagine, I've been around the machine shop my entire life. My brother, my dad, both of his brothers (my uncles) and my grandfather were all toolmakers/machinists. With that said, I am a 3rd generation machinist. I'm 39 years of age and I am a practicing Journeyman Tool & Die Maker with over 20 years in the field. I think I was about 1.5 years old when I seen it last and I only remember that because of a photograph that I have of me standing on it. My grandfather had built a few over the years, however, I can only remember one of them. For 30 years I have dreamed of building my own Case scale model steam traction engine. As a result, I have re-registered.Īnyhoo. STEAM TRACTOR PLANS PASSWORDThis isn't my first time here, however, its been long enough since my last visit that I have forgotten my old username and password and I think I have changed email addresses since my last time here. ![]()
